With the clean energy boom, there will be a dramatic increase in the demand of its primary fuel, Uranium.
By the end of this article you will understand it’s importance to the global markets, as well as one company you need to be watching.
The Importance of Uranium
Uranium is a vital resource for nuclear power generation, which offers a reliable and low-carbon energy solution. As the world seeks to transition away from fossil fuels and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, nuclear power presents a viable option for meeting the growing global energy demand.
Currently, 437 nuclear reactors fulfill approximately 10% of the world’s electricity requirements. However, over the next ten years, this number is anticipated to skyrocket as approximately 60 additional reactors become operational. Furthermore, there are an additional 104 reactors in the planning stage, alongside a staggering 338 more that have been proposed for future development.
Uranium Exploration In Niger, Africa
Niger is one of the largest producers of uranium in Africa, and the country’s uranium industry is led by the state-owned mining company Société des Mines de l’Aïr (SOMAIR) and the French mining giant Orano. The uranium mining sector in Niger accounts for a significant portion of the country’s export earnings and is a critical source of revenue for the government.
Niger is the world’s fifth-largest producer of uranium, and the government is working hard to attract investment to the sector and massively increase uranium production. In 2020, the government signed a new mining code that aims to attract more foreign investment by providing better tax incentives and reducing regulatory barriers. Niger is on track to become the world’s second-largest uranium producer.
The establishment of key institutions like the Ministry of Mines and the Mining Registry further enhances the oversight and regulation of mining operations. Niger has been successful in securing agreements with international mining companies and establishing partnerships with foreign governments. The government’s support extends to explorations and exploitation projects, with a specific focus on the lucrative uranium industry.
In Numbers, Niger’s extractive industries account for 7% of government revenues, 8% of GPD, and 42% is for exportation.
Myriad is actively exploring for uranium on-structure and adjacent to Africa’s largest and highest grade deposits.
Moreover, a number of prominent nations such as the United States, France, China, and India are actively embracing the utilization of Small Modular Reactors (SMRs), thus enhancing the accessibility of clean energy. SMRs offer remarkable flexibility as they can be easily adjusted to meet varying energy demands. However, the effectiveness of these new power plants hinges on the availability of uranium. The demand for uranium is already significant and is expected to grow substantially in the near future.

PRODUCTION
Niger on track to be the world’s 2ⁿᵈ largest uranium producer. It has been providing America with uninterrupted uranium supply since 2007.
In early April, a significant development unfolded as Orano announced its ambitious plan to invest a substantial $115 million in a formal in-situ recovery (ISR)* project at the Imouraren site. While ISR is a highly effective and cost-efficient uranium production technology used worldwide, it has not yet been utilized in Niger. If successful, this groundbreaking innovation could revolutionize the industry.
Myriad will take on the comprehensive investigation of the previously unexplored northern region of Imouraren this year. The exploration program will leverage state-of-the-art techniques, including high-resolution aircraft surveys and ground geophysics, to precisely determine optimal drilling locations. Subsequently, drilling operations will commence.
2023 Exploration Plan: Catalysts
The review of historical data has been concluded, and efforts are currently underway to confirm surface anomalies through field-based investigations.
In the coming months of the first half of 2023, a comprehensive survey utilizing ultra-high resolution drone magnetometry and surface geophysics methods will be conducted in key areas adjacent to Imouraren and Dasa.
The purpose of this survey is to identify and assess target horizons and depths, providing valuable information for drill targeting.
The drilling phase is scheduled for the second half of 2023.
A Local Exploration Team
The company made strategic investments in local resources to ensure its success. Myriad recruited a team of highly skilled individuals from Niger, including Adamou Ousemande, a renowned geologist and commander of the National Order of the Merit of the Republic of Niger, with expertise in uranium exploration. They also hired Michael Cantey, who possesses 18 years of experience in exploring and developing mineral deposits across Africa. Additionally, with
Loxcroft Resources, a significant shareholder, on board, Daye Kaba, a partner at Asafo & Co., and Cyril Amadi, a seasoned veteran with 20 years of experience in the mining industry, joined the board of directors.
Loxcroft Resources, responsible for managing explorations on behalf of Myriad, brings invaluable expertise to the table. Their team has extensive knowledge and direct experience in the Tim Mersoï basin, which greatly benefits Myriad. Moreover, Loxcroft already has established relationships with local drillers and other service providers, as well as ongoing conversations with regulators and senior governments officials.
In an exciting move, Ron Halas, former COO of Global Atomic, has just joined Myriad’s Technical Committee. Global had the same small market cap as Myriad several years ago, and is now over $500m. Mr. Halas will help give Myriad its best chance at copying what Global has done.
Uranium For A Greener Planet
According to the Nuclear Energy Institute, nuclear energy in the US avoided over 471 million metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions in 2020, equivalent to removing 100M cars from the road and surpassing emissions saved by other clean energy sources combined.
Nuclear energy eliminates thousands of tons of harmful air pollutants annually, linked to issues like acid rain, smog, lung cancer, and cardiovascular diseases.
It has a small land footprint, with a 1,000-megawatt nuclear facility requiring just over 1 square mile of land, in comparison to wind farms needing 360 times more land area and solar photovoltaic plants requiring 75 times more lan area and solar photovoltaic plants requiring 75 times more space for equivalent electricity generation.
The Financials
The most recent financial statements occurred for the period ending January 31. The company had $1M in cash and holds no debt. On the expenses side, Myriad had a loss of only $216k. Albeit this data is low, the company didn’t have any exploration expenses, and it should augment in H2 2023.
Regarding the share structure, investors will be pleased to see only 26.5M (majority held by management, local partners) shares are issued and outstanding, meaning the stock price will be moved more easily. The company also has 3.73M options (avg. price: $0.19) and 8.5M warrants (avg. price: $0.40).
Stock Price Information
Regarding information on the stock price, $M.CN continues its positive uptrend. Just a year ago, it traded around its 52-week low of $0.135, and since then, the stock price has built nice momentum to currently end up trading at $0.30 (May 5, 2023). Keep in mind that while the company continues to grow, any updates from Orano will definitely boost Myriad’s valuation higher.
It’s worth mentioning, to strengthen the partnership with Loxcroft, Myriad issued 8.5M shares to the optionor and Loxrcoft Resources to earn an 80% interest in Myriad’s 4 licenses. Regarding the 20% remaining, Myriad has 6 years to buy them for $6M. Based on future successful, value-adding milestones like the definition of 10 Mlbs and 50 Mlbs eU3 O8, PEA, and the issuance of a mining license, Myriad could give further cash or shares to Loxcroft. All possible bonuses amount to $5 million. Also, Loxcroft keeps 1% of the NSR
